Holocaust Memorial Day 2015

The History department took two S.2 classes to the Anne Frank Exhibition at Stirling University. This exhibition has been organised by the Anne Frank Trust. The Trust is a charity and partner organisation of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. The Trust uses the message of Anne’s life and diary to challenge prejudice and encourage people to embrace responsibility and respect for others.

Both classes were guided around the display boards at the exhibition by student volunteers from Stirling University. Pupils had opportunities to ask questions and discuss issues raised by the displays. Then they were divided into groups and given a series of tasks to complete before coming together for a discussion about what they had learned about Anne Frank and the Holocaust.

The attitude and effort of our pupils was excellent during both visits. This was due in large part to the preparation and enthusiasm of the university students who guided our classes around the exhibition.
