Last week, Stirling High School’s German department organised a highly enjoyable trip for thirty pupils to the Goethe Institut in Glasgow. Pupils enjoyed a German film workshop centred around the film “Almanya – Willkommen in Deutschland.” Pupils were then taken to the German Christmas market (Weihnachtsmarkt) in St Enoch’s Square to experience an important part of German Christmas tradition. Pupils had the opportunity to browse the stalls and enjoy a continental lunch.
Scottish School Road Relay
Thirteen Stirling High Pupils from S1 – S3 took part in the Scottish School Road Relay Championships on the 12th of November at the Helix Park in Falkirk. This was a national event with over 600 pupils taking part across the age groups. All pupils performed very well especially as they were all towards the lower end of the age groups in their category. They all ran the course in challenging windy conditions and showed great determination especially in the home straight with some impressively strong finishes.
We look forward to competing again next year. Any Stirling High pupils that are interested in running are invited along to the running club on Tuesdays 15:40 – 16:30. For more info follow @shs_run on Twitter.
We have accumulated a significant amount of lost property again. If your child has lost any item of schoolwear or PE kit, please ask them to call at the school office where they will be directed to our lost property area. Thank you.
The S5/6 Literacy class have organised a collection for the Start-Up Stirling food bank, helped by Miss McSweeney and Miss McConnell of the English department. In just over a week, 233 items have already been donated by the generous pupils and staff of Stirling High. More donations are welcome.
NHS letters have been sent home via schoolbag mail regarding the above vaccine programme. Parents should complete consent forms and return them to school by 7 December 2015. Immunisations will take place on 12 January 2016.
Congratulations to Shona Candlish S6 who has been selected to attend Euroscola 2016 next February. Euroscola is a unique event for schools to learn about European integration by experiencing it first hand. Students from the 28 EU Member States are selected to become a Member of the European Parliament for one day at the Parliament’s premises in Strasbourg.
They take the floor in plenary and committee sessions to debate and vote on resolutions on current affairs, all the while practising their language skills and making friends with fellow students from across Europe. We look forward to hearing about Shona’s experience on her return from Strasbourg.
