Welcome to the Art Department. Art is a core subject in first and second year, but can be taken much further by pupils interested in the subject.

Studying Art at Stirling High

In first year all pupils have one period of Art every week. This is increased to two periods in second year. During both years pupils attend Art in their tutor groups.

In third and fourth year pupils can take Art for Standard Grade, which involves both practical work and study of other artists.

In fifth and sixth year the Art Department offers both Intermediate and Higher courses, taking further topics covered at Standard Grade.

Why study Art?

Art is a very fulfilling subject for those who enjoy it – it is a very good way of expressing yourself if you aren't so good with words – or even if you are, it provides a different means of getting your message across.
