About me
I gradated from Glasgow Caledonian University and work with Jarvie Plant as a Marketing Assistant.
Left school
June 2016.
Senior Phase
In S5 and S6 I achieved Higher (SCQF level 6) Business Management, Art & Design, Design & Manufacture, Administration and IT, English and Graphic Communication. I also achieved a Personal Development Award at SCQF Level 6 and took part in Young Enterprise.
Choosing my Destination
Pupil support department helped me apply for university straight after school, however I dropped out after only 2 weeks as it wasn’t the right time or course for me. I then decided to do a business apprenticeship with NHS Forth Valley where I gained a full time permanent position however I then decided that I wanted to go back to studying after learning new skills and stopped doubting myself. I decided to ease in by going to City of Glasgow college to study an HND. This allowed me to go straight into third year at Glasgow Caledonian University with full support and encouragement from my college lecturers.
Extra Curricular & Work Experience
In my sixth year I was involved in young enterprise and we created a children story book. This experience allowed me the opportunity to build relationships and gain public speaking experience which helped me in my jobs.
I also had a part time job in a jewellers while at school which helped with my confidence.
Skills I've developed
Through school and Young Enterprise I gained creative skills which have encouraged me to pursue a career in Marketing.
My Advice
My advice would be to not panic and feel forced into deciding what you want to do, and instead just take every opportunity available to you and that will help you decide the ideal career path for you.
